General Questions

We stand out from our competitors for several reasons. Firstly, we are the only humidor company in the world that offers a hermetically sealed (airtight) humidor. Each unit undergoes a light test, and we use an adjustable gasket to ensure a perfect seal.

Secondly, our products are designed by musicians and crafted by master cabinetmakers from the Amish communities near our headquarters. We focus on creating functional music furniture with timeless designs that are built to last.

Lastly, we pride ourselves on customization, working closely with customers to realize their unique visions, often using exotic woods that are typically challenging to source.

We offer international shipping to most locations. If you would like a quote, we can provide one quickly. We primarily use DHL for overseas shipments and FedEx for shipments to Canada.

Most products are shipped using FedEx Ground, with larger shipments utilizing FedEx Freight. We determine shipping rates based on your zip code and the level of service you choose. Generally, most items arrive at their destination within 2 to 4 days from the shipping date. You will see the shipping costs directly in your cart, except for ClimaCabs that require a specific quote.

ClimaCabs are shipped via freight, and the rates depend on the destination zip code, weight, dimensions, and the scheduled shipping date of the ClimaCab. We can provide an estimated shipping cost, but please note that the final cost may fluctuate by the time the ClimaCab is shipped.

Relative humidity (RH), commonly referred to as humidity, is the ratio of the amount of water vapor present in the air to the maximum amount of water vapor the air could hold at a given temperature.

When air is chilled, the RH increases, while heating the air decreases it. This is why heating systems, such as forced air or wood stoves used in winter, often create extremely dry indoor conditions.

RH is closely related to temperature and is highly sensitive to changes in temperature. This means that if the temperature in your environment remains stable, the RH will also remain stable. Additionally, relative humidity is affected by the pressure of the system in question.

All wooden stringed instruments are sensitive to fluctuations in humidity due to the porosity of the wood, which allows it to absorb and release moisture. Significant changes in relative humidity (RH) can lead to damage, which in severe cases, may compromise the structural integrity and playability of the instrument.

40% – 60% humidity is considered safe when the temperature is around 70°F.

This is another way of describing an "airtight" seal. We achieve this using a durable neoprene gasket, along with a method that pulls the door snugly against the gasket, which effectively creates a microclimate inside the humidor. To ensure that each humidor is airtight, we conduct light tests on every unit that leaves our shop. If no light can escape, then no air can either. We also utilize proprietary methods to adjust the gasket wood strip from the interior, allowing us to raise or lower the gasket to ensure a complete seal.

Boveda packs are made of a patented leakproof membrane that allows for purified water vapor to be emitted and absorbed continually. Inside each pack is a mixture of natural salts and purified water. Moisture is released through osmosis to achieve a predetermined RH in the environment the Boveda pack is placed in.

Boveda packets generally last 2 to 3 months in single-instrument humidors existing in environments with low internal humidity, common in winter in areas using forced air or wood stoves and in dry regions like the desert southwest and high elevations. In more temperate climates, they can last 4 to 6 months. Their longevity depends on factors like the initial relative humidity of the instrument, air exchange frequency, and securely closing the door after use.

49% packets are versatile and suitable for most situations, containing approximately 70 grams of pure water and natural salts.

The 49% High Absorption (HA) packets are ideal for environments with year-round humidity levels exceeding 60%. These packets have about 45-50 grams of pure water and natural salts, providing enhanced moisture absorption capacity.

The 72% Seasoning Packet is specifically designed to boost humidification. It contains approximately 60 grams of pure water and natural salts, which is released quickly. We recommend using these packets for short periods before switching back to the standard 49% packets.

320-gram packets contain 320 grams of pure water and natural salts, which is roughly 4.5 times the amount found in the standard 70-gram packets. They are intended for use in our multi-instrument humidors, including both models of the Double Wide ClimaCase. When using the AR Sentinel Humidity Control System, the Boveda 320 packets serve as a secondary humidity control source. In rare cases where the AR Sentinel system is not used, the Boveda 320 packets can serve as the primary humidity control source.

Lead times & Shipping

The current lead time for built-to-order ClimaCabs is approximately 4 to 6 months for standard sizes, features, and most options. These lead times are based on existing orders, high demand, and our small-batch, handmade production process. If you need something sooner, please contact us. Additionally, we do carry limited inventory, which can be found in our In-Stock ClimaCabs section.

We are continuously assessing our inventory requirements and frequently producing small batches of 25 to 50 humidors. These batches help us replenish popular models as well as fulfill custom or made-to-order ClimaCases and ClimaStands.

You can typically expect a turnaround time of approximately 6 to 8 weeks for built-to-order models. However, this timeframe may vary for models with inlays or other customizations that require coordination with third-party vendors. The overall timeline for these customizations depends on the complexity of the project and the schedules of the collaborating companies.

For ClimaCabs, we will contact you prior to the shipment leaving our facility. Once your order has been picked up, we will provide you with tracking information and a delivery guide to help you prepare for your order. We ship to the threshold, meaning the first covered area such as a porch or garage, and we can arrange white glove delivery for an additional fee.

The ClimaCab will travel from terminal to terminal within the freight network until it arrives at the terminal closest to your location. Once it arrives, the terminal will contact you to schedule a convenient time for your delivery.

For all other products shipped via FedEx Ground, our shipping system will automatically send you an email with tracking information once we create the shipping labels.  We do not require a signature for the packages unless requested. Additional fees may apply for this service.

ClimaCab

Most of the time, ClimaCabs are shipped fully assembled. However, when the lower section is expanded for enhanced storage solutions, the crate may become too tall to fit through most garage openings. In such cases, we will split the cabinet into an upper and lower section. Some customers also request this two-part shipment to reduce the weight of each section, making it easier to move them up or down stairs.

Approximately 15 – 20 minutes.  We recommend that professional movers assist with lifting the upper section onto the lower section.  From there, a cordless drill is all that is required.

On average, the 1-gallon reservoir will need to be refilled only every four to six months, thanks to our patented gasket system, which creates a microclimate and isolates the interior air from the exterior air. Several factors can influence this refilling frequency, including the size of the ClimaCab, the ambient humidity in the area where it is being used, and how often the doors of the ClimaCab are opened and closed.

Routine maintenance involves changing the wick every 6 to 8 months, cleaning the reservoir and lid, and adding a few drops of bacteriostat when refilling the reservoir. Purchase wicks and bacteriostat from the ClimaCab Accessories collection.

Yes, the ClimaCab can easily switch between humidifying and dehumidifying by exchanging the humidifier with the dehumidifier reservoir and adjusting the settings on the smart controller. This changeover to dehumidification takes only a few minutes.

To prevent the build-up of lime and scale in the reservoir, it is essential to use distilled water.

The Boveda 320-gram packets are used in a few different ways that are highlighted in the Owner’s Manual.

In general, start by removing the plastic wrap. The packet is housed in cardboard packaging, which is adequate for use as is. For a more elegant storage option, consider using our Boveda 320 packet holder, available for purchase in the ClimaCab Accessories collection.

ClimaStand

To use the smaller Boveda packets (49%, 49% HA, and 72%), begin by tearing open the plastic wrapper around the packet. Next, remove the Boveda packet and place it into the designated packet holders. Position these holders in the lower corners of your single-instrument humidors.

The base is bolted onto the case with matte black carriage bolts and threaded brass inserts on the bottom and back.

We currently have both shapes available as floor models. The triangular shape has been our flagship model since Acoustic Remedy's inception. By popular demand, we began offering the rectangular shape and are very pleased with the results.

You can easily convert the humidor from a floor model to a wall model by following these steps: first, remove the bolt from the base and then hang the case on the wall. This process is straightforward and takes about 20 minutes. Each humidor is designed to be wall-mounted and includes matching wood plugs to cover the mounting holes. All floor models come with pre-drilled mounting holes for your convenience.

Yes, the backside of the base has a built-in storage pocket that can store straps, strings, tuners, picks, and cleaning towels easily while remaining concealed.

ClimaCase

No, however you can purchase a storage box which mounts to the underside of the case.  Please visit the ClimaStands and ClimaCases Accessories page.

To convert a wall model into a floor model, you can use the pre-drilled threaded brass inserts located on the bottom and back of the humidor. This allows you to easily attach the base unit. The entire conversion process should take approximately 20 minutes. If you need to purchase a base unit, please add it to your cart and check out on our website, or contact us for assistance, and we will help you with your order.
