Our Story
A Company Rooted in Friendship & Family
Adam Jacobson and Ryan Sauter met in college and quickly bonded over their mutual passion for music. Life's journey brought them back together years later, where they sparked the initial ideas for the ClimaStand during spirited guitar sessions. They envisioned a solution to protect instruments from the relentless dry air of Wisconsin winters while ensuring they remained accessible for whenever creativity strikes.
Our passion for designing functional music accessory products centers on preservation, protection, and display, which has resulted in an ever-expanding product lineup. Each item showcases the exceptional quality of Amish craftsmanship, ensuring they will become the centerpiece of any room. Our products meet the highest standards for performance and reliability that we’ve become famous for.
Join the revolution in instrument care and display with Acoustic Remedy!
Sketches developed on the back table in the spring air in Wisconsin eventually made their way to Adam's father Denny Jacobson (a soon-to-be retired carpenter at the University of Wisconsin) around the summer of 2008. He was integral in the early stages of the company by providing woodworking mentorship and sound advice. Extensive product development was crucial in this phase of the company, allowing us to fine tune our product and produce the very best in instrument protection/display cases. Our first designs centered around the acoustic guitar and protecting it from the unrelenting fluctuations in humidity and temperature that tend to wreak havoc on these delicate instruments.
Eventually we bought all the equipment to begin producing the first ClimaStands under the supervision of Denny J (aka Den Dawg). Our headquarters were a small workshop in Ryan's garage and we spent countless hours perfecting the design, learning the craft, and as Ryan likes to say "eating plenty of sawdust".
It became apparent that we were going to struggle keeping up with orders and quite frankly although we learned quickly and did an adequate job, our skills weren't where they needed to be. We forged on with an eye on attending a local bluegrass/folk festival called Larry Fest. This quaint and somewhat "in-the-know" festival was the first place we put our product on display and gave one away to a winner of one of the many songwriter contests throughout the weekend. The entire time we were trying our best to describe how it worked, what wood it was made from, and some other details that us young entrepreneurs could barely get out of our mouth by the time we arrived at his vehicle.
At the same time a pivotal moment occurred that we look back upon fondly. As Dan Tyminski from Union Station plucked away on some classic tunes, the owner from String Swing came by to check out our products. He said something that sticks with us to this day, which was "You guys should be selling these not making them". We realized Paul was right and we needed some help, so we called upon him to introduce us to the Amish. A ten ClimaStand batch later and a huge bill, we were already eyeing up that lunch date to learn what we could do.
Shortly thereafter we grabbed lunch in a small town adjacent to String Swing headquarters in Ontario, WI. We grabbed lunch with Paul and ventured out to meet some builders who constructed parts and pieces for String Swing’s products. The first introduction ended up being what forever changed the direction and history of Acoustic Remedy. The first introduction ended up being what forever changed the direction and history of Acoustic Remedy As we walked in our eyes were as big as saucers trying to soak up the entire experience. Out walks an older Amish man who produces every single wood block for String Swing amongst many other fine handmade wood products. Joseph mentioned that he was too busy but his son was looking for work. We wrote down our phone numbers and about three days later Enos Kempf gave us a call and forever changed the direction, quality, and history of Acoustic Remedy.
Even though our roots date back to Ryan’s garage in the summer of 2008, Acoustic Remedy started hitting it’s stride once we started working with Hickory Ridge Woodworking in the late fall of 2011. Since the early days, we further expanded our Amish builder network to working with multiple other shops dotted throughout the countryside. These connections have driven quality into every facet of every product we offer, with hand craftsmanship that is world reknowned and second to none.
By customer demand, we starting making a rectangle ClimaCase. We began developing our popular DualStands and deluxe versions as well.
Our innovative solutions for musicians have earned us two prestigious patents from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The first was for our groundbreaking ClimaStand, followed by the DualStand. As we tirelessly pursue new ideas and bring thoughtful, cutting-edge products to market, we remain steadfast in our commitment to protecting our unique designs and intellectual property. This spirit of innovation is deeply embedded in the fabric of our nation’s success, and we take great pride in the recognition that comes with our patented inventions.
From a start in a small garage to working with clients across the globe, Acoustic Remedy's history is something to behold, but the story is far from over. We don't rest on our laurels and consistently aim for improvements, innovations, and love inventing new products.

Ryan has been with the company since its inception and is involved with all day-to-day operations. He conceptualized the idea for the ClimaStand while sitting in his living room trying to figure out where to store his increasingly dried-out guitar. With the help of his good buddy Adam, they were able to design and refine the ClimaStand into the great work of art it is today.
Ryan is a family man. As a dedicated husband and father of 4 boys, he spends most of his free time coaching youth hockey and driving his kids all over the state to play the game they love. When he does get free time, he prefers to spend it playing guitar, hockey, skiing, and getting his family outside. Ryan is a gigging musician and plays 6-10 shows per year in the La Crosse area.

Denny was born in 1954 in Iowa. Adam discovered his passion for woodworking early in life in Denny's basement workshop, equipped with high-quality tools that crafted not just a home but also fine furniture. As a master carpenter at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Denny never imagined that Adam and his college friend would seek his guidance for their ambitious idea to create a humidor. In that small basement, they brought their first prototypes to life. During the inaugural year of Acoustic Remedy, Denny built the first four ClimaStands for a customer in New York. He instilled the fundamentals of woodworking in Adam and Ryan, empowering them to innovate, create, and learn what fine cabinetry required. Currently, these skills are still employed in designing products, creating working prototypes, and overcoming challenges alongside the Amish community. Our journey began with Denny's mentorship. We are grateful to learn from Denny, which we see as the start of our exciting journey and without, would have never begun.
Given the extensive roster of talented craftsmen and the need to respect their privacy, we have made the thoughtful decision to keep our team and their shops undisclosed. Our commitment to fostering strong, collaborative relationships with these skilled artisans has required considerable dedication, and we believe that safeguarding this information is essential to maintaining that trust.
Not only are they highly skilled at their craft, but they are also some of the kindest people one could hope to meet in a lifetime. They are extremely driven and work long hours to provide for their large families. With a great sense of humor, they tell knee-slapping jokes that are sure to make anyone laugh. They own some of the most beautiful countryside properties imaginable, featuring fertile land for growing food and deep valleys often adorned with a small brook, stream, or creek at the bottom. They truly are the salt of the earth, and we couldn't exist without them.
Ryan's dog Rocky was a black lab/retriever mix and could always be found laying around in the early days of AR collecting sawdust on his jet black coat and catching all the flies he could. Of course there was many of balls thrown and breaks to in the shade beating the heat of summer. RIP Rocky boy.
Sofia is Adam's cat, and she was often seen roaming the workshop in Adam's basement during the time when Acoustic Remedy stored inventory and shipped individual instrument humidors from our homes. We have since transitioned this operation to Hickory Ridge Woodworking, and Adam now uses the basement space as a photo booth, where Sofia still loves to hang out.
