The Boveda 49% 320-gram packets contain approximately 4.5 times the moisture content of the standard 70-gram packets. Each ClimaCab comes with a starter set that includes these packets, which serve as a backup humidity control source alongside the AR Sentinel Humidity Control System. Made from food-grade salt, purified water, and a food-grade thickening agent sealed inside a leakproof membrane, the packets can achieve and maintain a constant relative humidity (RH) range between 40% and 60%, the industry standard for wooden instruments.
The original manufacturer's packaging consists of a cardboard container with holes, which allows the packet to release or absorb moisture as needed.
For ClimaCabs that have the humidifier located below the floor of the upper section, inside a hardwood box built into the lower section, we recommend keeping the packets in their original packaging and placing them next to the reservoir of the AR Humidity Control System.
In ClimaCabs that require ducting, we provide a pair of maple packet holders. In this case, we suggest removing the packets from their original packaging and placing them into the packet holders. This is because, without the hardwood box to conceal them, the appearance of the packets in the holders aligns better with the high-quality aspects of our cabinets. Ducting is necessary for all Micro cabinets, as well as for any larger cabinets that have lower-section storage enhancements requiring the removal of the hardwood box. Micro cabinets utilize ducted humidifiers due to the limited space in the lower section, which makes it impossible to install the typical hardwood box.
